To play sounds in comic chat, they must be saved in the correct directory. The default directory is C:/Windows/Media. As I mentioned earlier, the default path can be changed by going to 'view/options/settings', and selecting a new path. However for a newbies, the best bet is to save your wav's in the default path until you become more comfortable with the program. As always, when accepting files from anyone on irc, it is wise to be careful and accept files only from those you trust. Even when receiving a file from a friend. it would be wise to scan it for viruses and trojans before you open it.
When someone tries to send you a wav file, you will see this window. Click on 'yes' to accept the file. The next window that comes up will look like the one below. In the 'save in': box you may see 'C:', otherwise you will have to browse to your C drive using the drop down menu. The window below shows the 'desktop'. This is how to get to your C drive using the drop down menu: Cick on the C: drive shown in the above example and then use your scroll bar to find and highlight 'windows'. Double click on 'windows' and browse to your 'media' folder. Double click here to open the folder. Now click on save. Once that is done, you will see a window that shows the progress of the file transfer. When complete, you will be able to play the wav in a chat room!! Comic Chat does not support the playing of any other sound formats such as MP3's.
